Important Message to Good Shepherd School Families

  Posted: January 15, 2021

To the Parents and Guardians of Good Shepherd School,

We were notified today of two positive COVID-19 cases at our school COVID-19. Click here to view a letter from Alberta Health Services. These cases affect both English Kindergarten classes and grade 3CD. All close contacts of these individuals have been contacted by phone and all were sent home as soon as possible. All close contacts are now isolating and can return to school on Tuesday January 26th. Even if a close contact tests negative, they must continue to isolate for their full isolation period.

If you did not receive a phone call from our school, your child is not a close contact of a positive case, is not required to isolate and can return to school on Monday. If anyone in your household is experiencing any symptoms, they should please stay home and get tested as soon as possible. Out of respect for the individuals, and in accordance with Alberta Health Services guidelines, no further information will be shared about this case.

We remind families to monitor for any signs or symptoms of COVID-19 using the Alberta Health Screening Questionnaire. Please remember to complete the checklist each day prior to attending school. If you or a member of your family has any of the symptoms of illness listed, please fill out the online Alberta Health Services COVID-19 self-assessment or call Health Link at 811.

We encourage all parents and guardians of students who test positive to report their test results to our school as soon as possible by emailing victoria.cornick@hfcrd.ab.ca. That email address is monitored on a regular basis, including evenings and weekends, and all emails will remain confidential.

The health and safety of our staff, students and community remains our first priority. We know this news can be distressing for families and supports are available. Please be assured we will  work closely with Alberta Health Services to ensure we follow their ongoing recommendations.

We will continue to provide additional information to parents and guardians as it is available.

Yours in Christ,

Betty Turpin, Superintendent and Victoria Cornick, Principal
