HFCRD Welcomes Mike Pickles as Assistant Principal of Good Shepherd School

Holy Family Catholic Regional Division (HFCRD) is pleased to welcome Mike Pickles as an Assistant Principal at Good Shepherd School in Peace River. Mike joins HFCRD with 24 years of teaching experience, including eight years of administrative experience. Mike worked with all grades from kindergarten to grade 12 in a variety of capacities, as well as with students at the college level. Most recently, Mike was the Coordinator of Program Development with the Northern Teacher Education Program (NORTEP) in La Ronge, Saskatchewan.
“We are excited to welcome Mike to our division. Mike brings an outstanding skillset that fits well with the needs of Good Shepherd School and HFCRD,” said Superintendent Betty Turpin. “Mike is bilingual, which will be a tremendous asset to the Good Shepherd’s French Immersion program, and has extensive experience living and working in northern communities. He has demonstrated a willingness to learn and grow professionally, and we look forward to working with him and watching him grow in his new role.”
Mike is originally from Clare, a small Acadian French community in Nova Scotia. He earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology from Saint Mary’s University, a Bachelor of Education in Social Studies from the NS Teacher’s College in Truro, and a Masters of Education in Curriculum Development from Mount Saint Vincent University in Halifax. Mike fluently speaks both English and French, and has excellent interpersonal skills. He has taught in all three Northern Territories, as well as overseas in Africa and twice in South America.
